REDOX

Hanford workers just wrapped up a major roof repair project that will help protect workers and the environment. As part of demobilization of the project, they recently disassembled a 150 ton crane used to replace the roof of the Reduction-Oxidation Plant (REDOX), a highly contaminated former plutonium processing facility. Repairs to the structure were necessary to keep the integrity of the structure intact while a future cleanup path for the canyon can be determined.

Before and after pictures show the progress made as crews installed a new, elevated roof on REDOX. Installing the elevated roof eliminated the need to perform the hazardous work of removing piping and other equipment on the old, existing roof.
